Ermonela Jaho, candidate for UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador

Minister of Culture Mirela Kumbaro officially presented the candidacy of the world-renowned Albanian soprano Ermonela Jaho as Ambassador of the Goodwill in UNESCO, to put her name, voice and fame into the service of UNESCO’s causes and projects. She emphasized that it would be in the honor of the Organization to engage a woman and an artist of this level to work and help culture remain the bridge of communication among young people around the world and play its role in peace and civilization of societies in the world. During her stay in Paris, Culture Minister Mirela Kumbaro paid a visit to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization UNESCO and was received by UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay. Kumbaro expressed the Government’s support for the new vision for UNESCO’s Strategic Transformation, and thanked the organization for the so far cooperation. Both interlocutors focused on the ways and means to extend this cooperation further. Azoulay expressed the support of the organization for the arts and heritage education programs implemented by Albania, emphasizing that “Youth and Culture are the important pillars of the UNESCO organization”. For this, she added: “UNESCO is committed to” Strategic Transformation “, which aims to make UNESCO more efficient, bring it closer to the needs and priorities of member countries.
