The number of foreign visitors to Albania increased again in May, following the slowdown recorded in April. According to the Institute of Statistics, the number of foreign nationals who visited Albania increased by 10% compared to May last year. During the first five months of the year, Albania was visited by 1.4 million foreign tourists, undergoing an increase of 8% compared with the same period last year.
Kosovo continues to dominate the number of visitors from abroad to Albania with 443 thousand in five months. The number of visitors from Kosovo is growing slightly for the first five months, as it fell significantly during the past year.
However, visitors from neighboring countries continue to dominate the tourism industry in Albania, with 75% of the total. However, visits from the neighboring countries are mainly related to work or business goals, rather than to tourism. There has been a significant increase of visitors from Poland, 34% and Germany, by 25% .Meanwhile, the visits by Albanians abroad increased in May, by 4% more compared to the previous year.
