Ministers of Economy of Western Balkan countries met in Vienna

The Minister of Finance and Economy, Arben Ahmetaj, participated in the meeting of the Ministers of Economy of the countries of the Western Balkan, a meeting that is held on July of every year, in the framework of the Berlin Process. The EU Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn participated in this meeting.

The focus of the meeting was the presentation of the achievements in three main directions :  The incitement of Investments and Trade in Western Balkan; Regional Economic Integration with the advancement of the project of the economic zone MAP REA and the Increase of Access in Finance and Small and Middle Enterprises or Start-ups, in compliance of the objectives in previous summits. (The Summit of Investments of Western Balkan in London, and the Digital Summit of Skopje).

The meeting was led by United Kingdom and Austria, meanwhile the date of the meeting coincides with the beginning of the Austrian Presidency of the European Council , that will have as a priority an enlargement perspective for the region of Western Balkan.

The European Commission announced another new guarantee instrument that will be created under the Framework of Investments of Western Balkan and will be launched by the beginning of 2019.  The starting commitment of EU of 150 million Euro in 2019-2020 will aim to increase the investments until 1 billion Euro, for contributing the stable development of  regional social-economic and integration plan.
