Gaqo Cako was born on January 24, 1935. The legendary tenor, Gaqo Cako, People’s Artist, is listed among the big names of the Albanian music pantheon as Ramiz Kovaci, Mentor Xhemali, etc. From 1957 to1961 he studied at Moscow’s “Tchaikovsky” conservatory under the direction of lecturer Anna Soloviova. After returning to Albania in 1961 he was appointed permanent tenor of the Tirana Opera and Ballet Theater, where he performed many of the first roles of the operatic repertoire, becoming the leading tenor for three decades. His pristine sound set the standards of the Albanian operatic tenors.His rich experience and career in the operas “Traviata”, “Boehme”, “Rigoleto”, “Norma”, etc., as well as the Albanian opera “Mrika” of Prenk Jakova, “The Flower of Remembrance” by Kristo Konos, “Spring “of Tish Daia, ?Heroine?of Vangjo Novella, Skenderbega of Prenk Jakova, Skanderbega of Abdulla Grimci, The Commissara of Nikola Zoraqi, Awakeninga of Tonin Harapi, ” Earth ” of Pjeter Gaci etc. , make him a great master with a great career.
