Schütz: Albania attractive for German investors but more transparency on public procurement needed

“Albania has a number of sectors that may seem attractive  in the eyes of many investors, including the German ones, but it certainly needs some improvements on the part of the authorities,” that is the statement issued by German Ambassador to Albania, Susanne Schütz underscoring that investors are confident of the Vetting process, but measures must be taken as regards  public procurement. According to her, there is a need for more transparency regarding public procurement procedures. Schütz  links procurement case with Albania’s ambition to the EU, pointing out that the Commission’s response to the Law “On the Theater” shows the standards that Albania should apply today. On the other hand, the ambassador emphasizes that there is room to see the deficiencies in the morality of payment of obligations in the case of public contracts, which do not positively affect Albania’s image as a place of investment.
