The Albanian government is determined to pursue the path of reforms undertaken to strengthen the rule of law, and the EU support through the opening of negotiations will help to move them forward. That was the statement issued by Justice Minister Etilda Gjonaj at the European Summit of Western Balkans 2018 on “Enlargement, Integration and Challenges of Change”. The summit, held in Brussels, was organized by Friends of Europe in co-operation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the European Commission to discuss the challenges, ideas and concerns of regional countries in the process of European integration. Justice Reform that Albania is implementing has received positive assessments during the summit being considered a successful model for other countries in the region as well. European Commission Enlargement Director-General Christian Danielsson said there are many challenges in the Balkans, but there are also changes and transformations. According to him, a good example to mention is Albania with justice reform and the fight against corruption. Speaking at the summit, Justice Minister Etilda Gjonaj stressed that Albania has made great efforts to strengthen the rule of law through deep reforms. The Albanian Minister thanking the international partners for the cooperation so far has emphasized that the political support of the European Union is very important for the continuation of reforms in Albania.
