Justice Minister Etilda Gjonaj has welcomed the vote of Albanian judges who elected among them 6 members to represent them in the High Judicial Council, an institution that together with the High Prosecutorial Council (HPC) paves the way for further implementation of the justice reform.
Considering the establishment of these institutions as a significant event in the history of Albanian justice, Gjonaj emphasized that the HPC and HJC will be the pillars of an independent and professional justice system.
“The establishment of the High Council of Prosecutor’s Office and the High Judicial Council is a significant event in the history of Albanian justice. The establishment of these institutions is a key step for the further implementation of the justice reform, which will restore the values and principles on which an independent justice system should be based: Integrity, Professionalism, Meritocracy and Accountability, implementing a justice system only in the service of the citizens. Congratulations to prosecutors and judges who participated in this completely legal and transparent process, through which two quality councils were elected, which will be the pillars of an independent and professional justice system “- says Gjonaj.
