President Ilir Meta demands maximum engagement and accountability of all the country’s institutions in the framework of the country’s EU integration process. The statements were made by the head of state in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Stef Blok. President Meta praised the deepening of cooperation between Albania and the Netherlands, particularly in the area of rule of law and the growth of Dutch investments in our country. The president encouraged closer co-operation between the two countries’ law enforcement institutions in the fight against organized crime.The head of state stressed that “European integration is the most strategic project of Albania, hoping that next June will mark the opening of accession negotiations with the European Union”. “When a few months remain until the European Council’s decision, rapid progress, determination and persuasive results in key reforms, particularly related to the rule of law and human rights, requires maximum engagement and accountability of all institutions in the country” , – said President Meta. Focusing on developments in the region, the Head of State stressed that he fully supports any process that contributes to peace, security, stability and regional co-operation in the European spirit of coexistence, as was the ratification in the Macedonian Parliament of the Prespa Agreement.
