Albanian famous poet and writer Irma Kurti is one of the 12 finalists in the Great Literary Contest announced by the Writers’ House in Sanremo and Booksprint Edizioni. The Italian-language novel: “In absence of words” was selected from 495 works and a 300-member folk jury. Finalists will present their books at the final night of the Italian Song Festival on February 9, 2019 and will be interviewed in the presence of journalists who will be in the premises of Casa Sanremo. The interview will be broadcast live. Irma Kurti says: “The selection of the novel: ‘In absence of words’ in a competition of such magnitude is the most important step in my literary career. What makes me excited is that this book is a tribute to my father, Hasan Kurti, a poor child and orphan, an exemplary doctor who dedicated life to his patients. It was written on the journal of his life, given to me years ago.” Irma Kurti has published seventeen books in Albanian, eleven in Italian and three in English. A few days ago, a new book of poetry titled “The Sun has set” was published.
