The Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Gramoz Ruçi, received yesterday the Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, and the delegation accompanying him during the official visit to Tirana. ” North Macedonia is a neighboring country and a special friend of Albania, but also a worthy partner in our common path towards the European family, in contributing to the development and well-being of our peoples as well as peace and stability in the region. When you have a loyal partner, the journey becomes easier and the obstacles are overcome with less difficulty “, underlined Assembly Speaker Ruçi.
Political cooperation between Albania and North Macedonia is excellent, but we have to work on economic and trade cooperation at this level. North Macedonia has recently achieved significant successes. Prespa’s agreement and normalization of relations with Greece, paving the way for the country’s NATO membership, are two historic successes. Both of our countries have shown evidence that they are committed to the development, democracy, peace and stability of the region. Parliament Speaker Gramoz Ruçi praised the positive and constructive role of Albanians and Albanian political forces in northern Macedonia and noted that the Assembly and the Government of Albania have promoted and supported this role.
Prime Minister Zoran Zaev thanked Speaker of the Assembly Gramoz Ruçi for the warm welcome and appreciation of Albania’s cooperation with North Macedonia. The agreement with Greece was an excellent example of co-operation and this model should be followed by other countries as well. With regard to the resignation of opposition MPs, Prime Minister Zaev noted that the opposition, like the government, has its responsibilities for the development of the country and this move goes against these responsibilities. This is an action that is not understood by any political force aspirating for democracy. Politicians must be characterized by the sense of responsibility for the destiny and progress of their country.
