The Brdo-Brijuni Summit kicks off today in Tirana with the participation of the leaders of the Western Balkans organized by Albanian President Ilir Meta. This two-day summit coincides with the Week of Europe, therefore the European Union foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini and Poland’s President, Andrzej Duda, will be the guests of honor.
The summit aims to convey an important political message about the common aspiration of the countries of the region to integrate into the European Union. This initiative has been assessed as an important forum of the highest political level for fostering dialogue, cooperation, strengthening security and stability, and supporting the European and Euro-Atlantic processes of all the countries of the region. A significant and vital indicator for the Balkan countries has been the continued support that senior European and American leaders have given to this process.
