The representatives of the German Bundestag support the opening of the negotiations of Albania with the European Union.
During his official visit in Berlin, the acting minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj held a series of meetings with the German Mps, in the framework of an intensive communication with Bundestag, especially with the representatives of the political groups and parliamentary commissions, engaged in the matters of enlargement of the Western Balkan region.
Minister Cakaj met with Norbert Rottgen, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Policies at the Bundestag, Katrin Staffler, rapporteur for Albania at the Committee for European Matters, Thomas Hacker from the Free Democrats and at the same time rapporteur of FDP for Albania and other dignitaries.
Minister Cakaj expressed his maximal praise for the commitment of Germany and the dedication towards Albania, demonstrated on the added focus of the Bundestag and the high number of visits of mps in our country.
He displayed an overlook of the continuation of the Vetting Process and the Justice Reform, the results achieved in the fight against organized crime and corruption and the close cooperation with the law enforcement agencies of the partner countries.
He asked from the representatives of the Bundestag, the continuation of support for Albania in the process of EU integration.
In the meeting with Norbert Rottgen, the latter reconfirmed the idea and conviction that EU is not fulfilled without Western Balkan, assuring the support for the negotiations and the incitement of the process.
As a response for the positive and encouraging spirit of the representatives of the German Bundestag, Acting Minister Cakaj praised Germany as one of the main partners that remains loyal towards the political and economical developments of the Balkan region, and without its support the process of EU integration would be impossible for the countries of the region.
Minster Cakaj reconfirmed to all the representatives of the German parliament, the determination of the Albanian government to continue the consolidation of key reforms and the preparations for opening the negotiations with the European Union.
