Rama: Albania direct contributor in the fight against organized crime through Frontex mission

Frontex mission launching ceremony was held today in Tirana. During his speech, Prime Minister Edi Rama said that the launch of the implementation of this project is an agreement that makes Albania the first country in the Western Balkans to monitor its external perimeter.

‘ The presence in Tirana of all of you at the beginning of the border patrol agreement is very significant for the EU’s attention and support to Albania, in the framework of fulfilling our role as a candidate country in the EU, with the ambition to become a member country, but also thanks to you and through you we will be able to show our friends and EU partners, even better and with facts, the expression of our unwavering will to be in this part of Europe a fully trusted partner and country. Kicking off the implementation of this project, an agreement that makes Albania the first country in the Balkans to monitor the entire outer perimeter,being a reason to be aware of how important it is to succeed in this project,’ said Rama.

Through this agreement, stated Mr Rama, we become direct contributors even in the fight against organized crime, putting us in a more specific position in terms of contribution and gaining benefits from the participation in this project. There are several benefits, the deal paves the way to information sharing, risk analysis, and coping with migration flows from other countries, “said Rama.
