Interior Minister Sander Lleshaj and Justice Minister Etilda Gjonaj attended an event dedicated to Albania’s European integration, which took place in the European Parliament, under the auspices of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S & D) in the EP.
The activity was moderated by MEP Knut Fleckenstein and attended by MEPs, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Brussels, representatives of various European agencies, students, etc.
Ministers Lleshaj and Gjonaj briefed on Albania’s progress in the European integration process, focusing on fighting organized crime and corruption, curbing illegal migration, and reforming justice.
“The progress made in Albania was highlighted in the participants’questions and discussions, expressing unequivocal support for the opening of its membership negotiations, following the recommendation of the European Commission,” the sources from the Interior Ministry said.
Following the activity in the European Parliament, ministers Lleshaj and Gjonaj responded to journalists’ questions during a joint press conference.
