US Embassy made an appeal to Albanian citizens to refuse violence in today’s protest

The US Embassy  issued a statement yesterday making an appeal to the Albanian citizens to refuse violence today in the protest, as well as to the organizers of this protest, who are leaders of Albanian opposition parties to take responsibility and to refuse violence at any moment.
The statement underlines that the United States wants what the Albanian people deserve: a rule of law that protects civil servants as well the schools from senseless attacks, which protects the integrity and security of the electoral process, and which holds the promise of the citizen’s right to peaceful protest, those involved in violence are held accountable. They encourage all citizens and all institutions throughout Albania to support rule of law principles, to refuse violence in all its forms, and to exercise their democratic rights peacefully while allowing their fellow citizens to do the same thing. They also call on the organizers of tomorrow’s protest to be held accountable by the same principles, to publicly call their supporters to gather peacefully and to vigorously reject violence in every opportunity.
