Prosecution for Serious Crimes demands 12 years in prison for former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri

The Serious Crimes Prosecutor’s Office  demanded on Tuesday 12 years in prison for former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri. In his pretence today, Tahiri is accused of “drug trafficking” in co-operation in the form of a structured criminal group, “committing criminal offenses by a criminal organization”, “structured criminal group”. Along with the former interior minister, are also accused Jaeld Cela, a former director of the Vlora Police, Sokol Bode, a former police officer and Gjergj Kohila a former police officer. The latter are sought for prosecution.  The court hearing began in the early hours of Tuesday morning and it is known that the former interior minister has personally presented the defense conclusions, rejecting the accusations against him and considering them politically motivated.
