Prominent Chinese albanologists Zheng Enbo and Wang Hongqi were honored by Albanian President Ilir Meta with the high order “Naim Frashëri” during a ceremony at the Presidency premises in Tirana. The head of state, Meta, in his speech praised the Chinese albanologists for their contribution and permanent commitment to the spiritual heritage of the Albanian people.
Albanologist Zheng Enbo, a former student of Albanian language and literature in Tirana, a friend of Dritero Agolli and Xhevahir Spahiu, now 82 years old, expressed gratitude for the appreciation of his contribution by his second homeland, Albania. “Today is a historic day for me. I’ll never forget it. To me, Albanian literature and art is an endless ocean. In the future I will deepen my knowledge of Albanian literature and translate the work of Xhevahir Spahiu, my friend and younger brother. ”
Chinese albaologist Ke Jing read a letter of thanks to the ceremony from Mr. Wang Hongqi, former correspondent for the Chinese news agency Xinhua in Tirana, to whom Albanian President Ilir Meta awarded the order “Naim Frashëri.
The ceremony was part of a three-day Albanian-Chinese inter-academic and inter-university event, which kicked off on Friday morning at the Academy of Sciences in Tirana with an exhibition titled “Albanian Authors for China, Chinese Authors for Albania”.
A co-operation agreement was signed between the Albanian Academy of Sciences and Beijing Foreign Language University. The event was organized on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Albania and China under the auspices of the Albanian Academy of Sciences, the Beijing Foreign Language University, the Beijing University Book and Research Publishing House, and the Alb-China Cultural Association.
