Italian PM Conte official visit to Albania

The Prime Minister of Italy, Giuseppe Conte paid an official visit today to Albania.

The head of the Italian government was received by Prime Minister Edi Rama at the Palace of Brigades, where they held a joint press conference.

“Albania should be on the right track. It is essential for Albania to ensure an improved business climate and an increasingly efficient and transparent public administration to build sounder institutions. We are happy for the cooperation between the two countries in the cultural aspect as well. I have had the opportunity to meet Albanian students who are very responsible. In the research sector, too, we would like to strengthen our cooperation to bring back to Albania those students who have chosen Italy to enhance their knowledge. I always say it’s really nice to have an overseas experience, but it would be great for the students to return to their country of origin, ”said Conte.

Regarding the political crisis Conte reiterated that Albania itself should resolve the political crisis between the non-parliamentary opposition and the majority. The majority and the opposition both have an interest in resolving this crisis on their own. I will also emphasize at other meetings that this dialogue be held without preconditions. We need to strengthen economic relations between the two countries. We are pleased to be the first trading partner with Albania”- said Conte.
