Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and Austrian Minister for European Affairs Karoline Edtstadler said their countries would seek the opening of membership negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia at the European Council level in March.
A press release issued by the Croatian government following the Plenkovic-Edtstadler talks in Zagreb says the two countries will push for approval of a decision to start negotiations, with the two aspirants at European Council level during the March 26-27 summit. .
Plenkovic briefed the Austrian minister on the Croatian EU presidency agenda and its priorities.
Considering the adoption of the EU multi-year budget, Plenkovic called for an agreement that would also take into account all the specifics of each member state.
Edtstadler said “Vienna supports Croatia’s activities for preparations for the EU summit and Southeast European countries” in early May in Zagreb.
