Governor of the Bank of Albania, Gent Sejko held an official meeting with the new Italian Ambassador to Albania, Fabrizio Bucci, at the Bank of Albania premises. Talks focused mainly on the performance of the Albanian economy and banking system, promoting Albania’s potentials, bilateral economic relations, and Albania’s European integration process.
During the meeting, Governor Sejko introduced Ambassador Bucci to the financial developments in the country, stating that the Albanian banking system is liquid, capitalized and with good indicators of profitability.
Focusing on the country’s economic performance, Governor Sejko stressed that the growth rate continued to be positive, employment increased, the country’s internal and external balances strengthened. The Bank of Albania has made the necessary contribution through facilitating monetary policy in support of sustainable economic growth and guaranteeing the country’s macroeconomic stability.
The Governor further stated that the Bank of Albania remains an institution fully committed to aligning its legal, regulatory and operational framework with that of the European System of Central Banks, as well as meeting the priorities arising from the steps taken by the Bank of Albania for the European integration process.
For his part, the Italian Ambassador praised the Bank of Albania as one of the main institutions in the country. He stressed the importance of the Bank of Albania’s joint projects with the Bank of Italy and the European Central Bank, with the aim of further developing institutional capacity as well as contributing to the approximation of European standards and accelerating the integration process.
Both interlocutors shared the view that these negotiations should serve as a development factor and as an additional guarantee for future domestic and foreign investors. Another point where they stopped was the continuation and further deepening of the structural reforms, as a very important factor for the long-term and sustainable development of the country.
