The country’s president, Ilir Meta, through a Facebook status, has expressed happiness over meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Rumen Radev. He says he is honored to further strengthen relations with a country like Bulgaria, with which Albania has genuine historical, cultural and human ties. Meta also said he thanked Radev for Bulgaria’s continued support in the process of European integration of Albania.
‘Happy and honored to receive today in Tirana the President of the friendly Bulgaria, Rumen Radev.
Albania and Bulgaria have genuine historical, cultural and human ties, as well as traditional friendly relations. Based on this friendship, as well as on our shared Euro-Atlantic vision, our relations must be further strengthened, to the benefit of our two countries and peoples, but also for the sake of peace and security in the Balkans.
I thanked President Radev for Bulgaria’s constant support for Albania’s European integration process, especially for the opening of EU accession negotiations. Bulgaria is a very good advocate of EU integration of all countries in our region,’ writes Meta.
