After the meeting with the chairman of the Democratic Party Lulzim Basha, the US Ambassador Yuri Kim gave details from the meeting.
The foreign diplomat stressed that the discussion was focused on the future, not the past. She also clarified that May 31 for the approval of electoral reform is not a deadline set by the United States.
“We just had a great meeting. I was very pleased to have the opportunity to meet with the opposition leader Mr. Lulzim Basha. Our discussion was about the future, not the past. In particular, we spoke about the importance of how Albanian leaders must meet the expectations of the Albanian people, as promised, to complete electoral reform by May 31st. This is not a timeline set by the United States Embassy or any other external factor. This is a deadline set by the leaders themselves,” she said.
