While the number of people affected by COVID-19 in our country continues to be high, the President of the Republic Ilir Meta held a working meeting today at his request with the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Ogerta Manastirliu. The latter informed Meta that in accordance with the drafted strategy and proposals of the Technical Committee of Experts, measures have been taken to provide personal protective equipment, increase testing capacity, hospital capacity and human resources.
“The strategy we are pursuing needs the cooperation of citizens to cope with the situation caused by COVID-19. Only through the implementation of measures and protocols, through personal example, we will be able to succeed together, even at this stage of pandemic “, – said Manastirliu.
The Head of State, after assuring the Minister of solidarity and full support for health institutions, expressed gratitude to all doctors, nurses who are serving with maximum professionalism and dedication on the front lines. Among other things, he stressed the importance of supporting the health sector with the right budget, as well as the need to increase protective measures for doctors. The Head of State appealed for the importance of raising the awareness of the citizens for the observance of the instructions made public, for the maintenance of the physical distances and the wearing of the masks, especially with the approach of the peak of the new tourist season.
In this context, President Meta and Minister Manastirliu stressed the need for continued coordination between central and local authorities. The head of state also underlined the need to strengthen the close cooperation with all neighboring countries to take measures to prevent the further spread of COVID-19, in order to reopen land borders as soon as possible. President Meta and Minister Manastirliu stressed that “it is vital to increase the efficiency of safeguards through awareness, transparency, inclusiveness and increasing the spirit of cooperation, as the only major objective should be to protect the health of citizens and the national economy.”
