The new regulation changes the period of fishing bans in Lake Ohrid, Shkodra, the Adriatic and the Ionian

The regulation on the terms of the fishing period in the waters of the lakes of Ohrid, Shkodra and the Adriatic and Ionian is changed. The ban on gudgeon fishing in Lake Ohrid will be from April 20 to July 20, from April 20 to July 15 as before. While in other water areas the period in which fishing for gudgeon is prohibited has not changed.

In the waters of Lake Ohrid, for 1 month within the period from April 20 to July 20, carp fishing will not be allowed and in other water areas for 1 month within the period April 1 to July 1. Under the previous regulation, the period of banning carp in Lake Ohrid was from May 20 to June 15, while in other water areas no ban was imposed. The amended regulation with new fishing deadlines has been published in the Official Gazette.

With the new regulation approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, the validity period of fishing permits is extended by 5 years. In marine fishing, which is practiced with deck vessels (motorboats or fishing boats), the permit was valid for 5 years. As for coastal fishing, which is practiced with floating vessels without deck, it was valid for up to 5 years.

With the approved changes, the validity of the fishing permit will be 10 years and will be automatically renewed upon submission of the relevant request of the owner of the fishing vessel. For fishing vessels that are leased, the fishing permit will be valid according to the term of the contract, but in any case not more than 10 years.
