Through an official communiqué, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the neighboring country, appreciates the organization, emphasizing that this is a step towards integration into the European Union.
On the other hand, the Italian side invites the opposition to cooperate with the majority, having as a key objective the integration process.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the elections in Albania on Sunday, April 25. Italy appreciates the excellent organization of the electoral process, as indicated by the OSCE / ODIHR in its preliminary report. In particular, the professionalism and transparency demonstrated by the Central Election Commission and its Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi. Complaints of fraud and irregularities must be assessed accurately and in full compliance with the procedures set out in the Electoral Code.
Sunday's elections on April 25th contribute positively to the consolidation of democratic processes in Albania and represent an important step forward on its path to Europe. Following the electoral confrontation, it is now essential that all political actors be fully committed to the good of the country and contribute to the consolidation of democratic institutions that find their essential point of reference in a fully legitimate and functional Parliament.
Italy hopes that all political forces will work cohesively to support the strategic objective represented by Albania's entry into the European Union through a constructive and respectful dialogue between the majority and the opposition. Such a dialogue will allow the country to face future challenges successfully. Italy will continue to strongly support the Albanian institutions and the legitimate aspirations of the Albanian people to be part of the European family," writes the statement.
