‘Happy Alphabet Day of our beautiful Albanian language, written in blood letters, after countless sacrifices of our patriots and intellectuals.
Honor and gratitude to the true Renaissance of our nation, who 112 years ago, gathered at the Congress of Manastir, recognized the most important unifying element of Albanians, to precede the Independence of Albania. At the core of every nation is the language, so its protection from any enemy, serves our national identity. Happy that documents and photos from the proceedings of the glorious Congress of the Monastery were exhibited at the Presidential Institution on the anniversary of this marked national event," writes Meta.
The Congress of Manastir was held in the city of Bitola from November 14 to 22, 1908, targeting the standarisation of the Albanian alphabet. November 22 is now a commemorative day in Albania, Kosovo and North Macedonia as well as among the Albanian Diaspora known as the Alphabet Day.
