The Academy of Sciences commemorated the 90th anniversary of the birth of the great Albanian Artist Pjeter Gaci with an "Instrumental Concert" with pieces composed by this virtuoso composer from Shkodra and a jubilee conference.
Pjetër Gaci is distinguished for the composition of the first violin concerto in the history of Albanian music, the first ballad for violin and piano, as well as being a member of the first instrumental trio at TOB in 1956.
The main trend in his creativity will remain vocal music, in which he has left unforgettable examples of works from song to opera, such as the opera "Our land", "Beyond the fog", cantata "O my Albanian, poor Albania" ," For you Homeland ".
Pjetër Gaci was a renowned composer, violinist and lecturer of classical music. He was a lecturer at the Lyceum of Arts and later at the Higher Institute of Arts. He started his artistic career as a violinist and became the founder of Albanian violin music. It reached the peak with the composition of the song, as in "For you my homeland" and "Kacanik George".
Pjetër Gaci was born in the village of Shtiraj in the district of Shkodra on March 27, 1931. He completed his primary education in Shkodra. He started his violin studies at the "J. Misja" Art High School, in the years 1948-1952 to continue at the Moscow Conservatory "P. I. Tchaikovsky ”in which he graduated in the spring of 1967.
In 1967, he became the director of the circus of Tirana, the Variety and the Puppet Theater of the city. In 1970, he is a composer in free creativity and after 1976 he finally settled in Shkodra, where in addition to composing, he also took care of the violin class at the "P. Jakova" artistic high school in this city. He composed the first violin concerto in the history of Albanian music, the first ballad for violin and piano, and he became a member of the first Instrumental Trio (at TOB, 1956). Master Pjetër Gaci has left to his nation a great legacy with about 500 creations, 45 musical works, violin concerts or choreographic paintings, romances, several operas, of which 7 have been awarded prizes; about 175 songs, of which 45 won awards. In 1989, Pjetër Gaci was awarded the title "People's Artist". He has been awarded the following prizes: "Naim Frashëri" (class I), "Red Labor Flag" (class II), Republic Award (class I). Pjeter Gaci passed away in March 27, 1995.
