Zef Mazi, Albania's chief negotiator for the EU, wished success to Portugal, which yesterday took over the six-month EU presidency.
Through a post on social networks, Mazi writes that Albania has given results and met the conditions for the first intergovernmental conference and that it now expects the EU to give concrete results for 2021 and no longer pledges that question its credibility.
"A Happy New Year! Welcome and success to Portugal in the EU presidency. Albania gave results, met all the conditions for the first Intergovernmental Conference, expects the EU to give results. Promises only call credibility into question . 2021 test for enlargement strategy. "Optimism, not another disappointment," Mazi wrote in his post.
Albania made the Constitutional Court operational within December 2020, one of the main conditions for holding the first intergovernmental conference to start negotiations with the EU on integration processes.
