Agricultural exports increased by 8% during the first 4 months of this year, compared to the same period a year ago. Lushnjë-Fier markets lead with the largest volume of trade for these products abroad, accounting for about 75% of total exports. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development announces that all vegetable branches are showing positive performance.
Significant growth is shown at categories such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, medicinal plants and seasonal vegetables. Albania is exporting products to over 70 countries in the world, led by EU and regional countries, but Albanian agricultural products have managed to capture the markets of the Middle East. In addition to subsidies with the oil scheme, the government aims to increase support for farmers and ease costs for farmers so that they can compete on the price of their products. The ministry announces that, this year alone, there are 19 thousand farmers who receive free tax fule and the strategy will be revived to see how this sector can grow more.
