The US Ambassador to Tirana, Yuri Kim, had a discussion with representatives of civil society, with whom she spoke about the April 25 elections.
In a message on Facebook, the US embassy states that Ambassador Kim has agreed with civil society representatives that party leaders should commit to verifying their candidates and providing clean lists.
"Ambassador Kim had a good discussion with civil society representatives about their concerns and ideas for ensuring accountability in government and transparency ahead of the April 25 election. They agreed party leaders should commit to vetting their candidates and ensuring clean lists. She thanked civil society in Albania for its contribution to democracy and to keeping the government accountable. The Ambassador said that just like in the United States and the rest of Europe, Albania benefits from an active civil society".
