The vaccination procedure against anti-COVID-19 will start today in Albania. January 11, 2021 will be a very important day for the country on the road to ending the months-long battle with COVID-19. The process will start this Monday afternoon, as a conference is planned by the Ministry of Health where it will provide more details regarding the procedure.
Under the motto ‘Albania smiles’, the vaccination will be carried out at the national stadium ‘Air Albania’ in order to avoid crowds and long queues. 60 armchairs are placed in the premises of the stadium, where the vaccination will be performed and the work will continue for 8-10 hours a day. In total, vaccination of 60 citizens per hour is foreseen.
The doctors, which are in the front line of coping with COVID will be the first to be vaccinated, to be followed by teachers, police officers and adults over 75 years old. Albania has officially secured 500 thousand doses of Pfizer anti-COVID vaccine from the company BioNTech, while as previously announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama, talks with Astrazeneca and Moderna continue.
