On the eve of the Slovenian summit, European Union Foreign Minister Josep Borrell stated that the EU and the Western Balkans share the same responsibility for the future.
Investing in empowering the people of the Western Balkans means investing in a stronger Europe, Borrell said.
"At this EU-Western Balkans summit, we will discuss the responsibilities of building a peaceful and prosperous united Europe. The Western Balkans is in the heart of Europe, so by investing in empowering the people in this region, we are investing in a stronger Europe ", said High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
The head of EU diplomacy assessed the Slovenian summit as the most important event at a high level in relations between the parties.
Meanwhile, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, before attending Tuesday's Summit, said that the Western Balkans should be offered a credible perspective of acceptance in reform efforts.
This is extremely important because we need to take care of security and stability in Europe. If we leave a vacuum in the Balkans, other countries, such as Turkey and China, will fill it, Kurz warned.
