The Ambassador of the United Kingdom, Alastair King-Smith met today with the Prime Minister Edi Rama.
They discussed ways the UK and Albania could expand partnership in priority sectors such as: support for democratic reforms, strengthening the rule of law and security co-operation; growth and prosperity through the green economy; innovation and technology, to strengthen the diverse digital ecosystem in Albania, education, youth and culture.
Ambassador King-Smith praised the much stronger role that Albania is playing in the international and regional arena, as an essential partner for the United Kingdom, in NATO, in European institutions and soon as a member of the United Nations Security Council.
"We pledged to expand and strengthen relations between the United Kingdom and Albania as well as to continue working together on bilateral opportunities and global challenges. We will welcome Prime Minister Rama in Glasgow to the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in November - joint climate action is crucial to the prosperity and success of all countries, including Albania.
"I also thanked the Prime Minister for the generosity of the Albanian people for their contribution to the international intervention in the crisis in Afghanistan, welcoming the endangered Afghan citizens in Albania", said Ambassador King-Smith.
