The Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj, is paying a two-day visit to Sofia, where he is expected to hold a series of important meetings.
Cakaj begun the visit with a meeting with the First Deputy Prime Minister for Justice Reform and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Ekaterina Zaharieva.
The meeting focused on discussions on the advancement of several projects of strategic importance, from the promotion of economic exchanges to the development of energy interconnection. Also, the two counterparts stressed that Albania has already made steady progress in advancing in the process of membership in the European Union.
In terms of multilateral co-operation, Bulgaria’s full support was expressed for Albania’s candidacy to take a seat on the Security Council as a non-permanent member for 2022-2023.
At the end of the meeting, the Ministers signed the agreement for cooperation in the field of environment and water protection.
