The American Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee met yesterday at the request of the State Department to discuss the importance of signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the US Government and the Republics of Albania and Egypt.
Mr. Auron Tare was invited as an observer to this important panel as a member of the Scientific Council of Unesco.
The panel, composed of the leaders of the most important American institutions in the field of archeology and cultural heritage, focused on the current problems of the Albanian cultural heritage.
The robberies of archeological centers over the years, the irreversible loss of ancient history in Albania and the damage suffered by the Albanian heritage were some of the points where experts in the field presented before the panel of officials of the Department. Meanwhile, the positive experience of cooperation in several expeditions over the years was also emphasized, as well as the important results of this cooperation.
Underwater archeological research in Albania undertaken by the American RPM foundation, was considered one of the most successful discoveries that American institutions of marine archeology have had over the years.
