The European Union Office in Tirana commented on the findings of the final OSCE / ODIHR report on the April 25 elections.
"The final report confirms that the parliamentary elections were generally well-organized by the election administration and that the reformed Central Election Commission oversaw the election process in a transparent manner, enjoying the confidence of stakeholders," the EU said.
According to the EU office, the report also confirms concerns about the misuse of state resources, or official functions by the ruling party and other public figures.
According to the EU, these findings should be used by the authorities to address them without delay.
"The final report provides recommendations to improve the electoral framework in Albania in line with OSCE commitments and other international standards for democratic elections. "We urge the new Parliament to engage in a constructive dialogue to address the recommendations as a matter of priority in the next legislature, as well as to adapt the existing legal framework long before the next elections," the statement continued.
Law enforcement agencies are tasked with investigating and closing investigations into allegations of vote buying and the leakage of citizens' personal data.
