EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi will pay an official visit to Albania. Commissioner Varhelyi will meet with Prime Minister Edi Rama and then will have a joint press conference.
Also, at the end of his short visit to Tirana, he will hold a meeting with the leader of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha.
The visit of the senior European official in Albania comes as part of a tour in the Balkans focusing on EU assistance in dealing with the pandemic.
The visit of the Commissioner for Enlargement has as main focus the EU assistance to Albania to face the pandemic, as well as the delivery of the first part of 145,000 Pfizer vaccines, funded by the European Union.
The European Union is intensively committed to enabling the delivery of vaccines against Covid 19 in the Western Balkans.
Meanwhile, the European Union has recently sent 651 000 doses of Pfizer / BionTech vaccines to countries in the region, including Albania.
