At the 21st European Film Festival taking place in Lecce, Italy, from October 31st to November 7th, Albania was presented by four cinematographic projects. This edition, the 21st, is taking place at "Teatro Massimo".
But unlike the previous tradition, this edition is limited due to the situation created by Covid-19. It is organized around an official competition of European feature films with an Italian premiere and sections aimed at describing the best of European cinema where 12 European films are competing. It also features short films and documentaries, and new audiovisual languages. Further attention is paid to the study of European cinema through European projects.
"Delegation" by Bujar Alimani, "Day begins" by Gentian Koçi, "Unfinished portrait" by Namik Ajazi and "Open door" by Florenc Papas are the four recently completed productions. "Open Door" is part of the competition along with 11 other European films, while others are part of the screenings in the Balkan film section.
Alberto Lamonica, who is also the director of the festival, says that it is very important to present the current situation in Europe in this festival and for this reason Albania should be represented. "We have also created the Balkan film section where Albania and Montenegro represent this region best," he said.
Tomorrow night is expected to be the last night of this important European festival where the prizes for the best productions and categories will be awarded.
