The Bunk'Art 1 premises have been refreshed with new artwork. It is the Puglia artist Nicola Genco who has made this installation that is related to the history of 30 years ago, when the cargo ship "Vlora" arrived on the shores of Bari with 20 thousand Albanians, coming from the other side of the Adriatic.
The new work of art is dedicated to August 8, 1991, which in the history of Albania and Italy is known as the exodus of Albanians. Hundreds of men, women and children themselves climbed like migratory birds on a cargo ship and sailed for Italy for a good life. These impressive ceramic figures are the traces of the feverish dreams of the Albanians who stayed in Italy as in their home, worked for their home and then united in new friendships the two ancient shores with the rock of cultures and traditions.
The feverish longing to meet the differences made the Albanians themselves change. This exhibition marks the human challenges for the invaluable value of meeting cultures, exchanging experiences, for big dreams that have no gender, age, ethnicity.
These ceramic figurines are a dedication for those who know how to stand in front of each other to get to know themselves better. The "Promenade" installation is not just about a walk, but about the comings and goings between the two shores of the Adriatic to be in each other's uninterrupted company.
