The President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou has given a message for Albania, on the 80th anniversary of the founding of "OMONIA". While appreciating the achievements of our country, the President says that Albania should do more in relation to the Greek minorities.
She says the Greek state will always be a supporter of bilateral relations.
Sakellaropoulou says that Albania has made significant progress on the path of its modernization, as a result of which it is today a candidate for membership in the European Union.
However, she notes that “many more steps need to be taken in order for the country's European course to move to the next stage. To this end, the protection of the rights of the Greek minority, education in the Greek language and the provision of property rights are preconditions, based on European decisions.
She added that "the Greek state will be there, as always, to monitor the extent to which these conditions are met, and to show any shortcomings and delays."
