EU Special Representative for Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue Miroslav Lajcak says in an interview with Radio Free Europe that the first meeting between Kosovo's new Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is expected to take place in a few weeks.
"I think we can wait for the first meeting very soon, without unnecessary delays. Kosovo, as we agreed with Mr. Kurti, must end with the creation of institutions. The election of the president and the preparation of the new team are now left. After that, we expect them to be ready. Kurti told me that he was ready to come to Brussels to meet with President Vuicic. Vucic told me that he is ready to come whenever he is invited," Lajcak said in an interview with Free Europe.
He says he was encouraged by his recent visit to Pristina and Belgrade, where he said he had received assurances that the leaders were ready to continue the dialogue.
With Kurti at the head of the Kosovo delegation, Lajçak believes that there is a new situation, because, according to him, both dialogue bearers now have a very strong mandate.
