On the evening of March 28, the first doses of the coronavirus vaccine arrived in Kosovo. It is about 24,000 doses of vaccine produced by AstraZeneca, which Kosovo has received from the COVAX program of the World Health Organization.
At Prishtina International Airport "Adem Jashari", a plane of the company, Turkish Airlines, has brought doses of vaccine. From COVAX, in total Kosovo will receive 100,800 doses of the vaccine free of charge. Kosovo is so far the only country that has not launched the immunization campaign against COVID-19.
In recent days, an increase in cases of coronavirus has been registered in Kosovo. On Sunday, ten victims and 914 cases were registered. This is the highest number of daily infections recorded in 2021.
Since last March, when the first cases of COVID-19 were reported, Kosovo has registered 87,981 cases of coronavirus. Of these, 1,840 cases ended in fatality.
