The Minister of Education, Sports and Youth Evis Kushi held a meeting with Professor Béla Merkely, Rector of Semmelëeis University and András Lánczi, Rector of Corvinus University, in Budapest, Hungary.
In this meeting, Kushi and the rectors exchanged ideas and experiences in order to boost cooperation and increase quality in the field of higher education and scientific research.
She said that the rectors of Budapest expressed interest in deepening the cooperation that has existed for years between Hungary and Albania in the field of education.
The Minister says that in February of this year she signed a memorandum of understanding with the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Hungarian scholarship program for Albanian students.
"One of the major objectives for the new governing mandate is to increase the quality of higher education and open the doors of our universities to prestigious European universities, so that our students have valuable degrees, degrees that are recognized in other countries of the EU. In this framework of this major objective, we are holding meetings in different European countries, we are meeting with ministers of education, rectors of universities to concretize this objective of ours as soon as possible. The two rectors of the two universities here in Budapest expressed interest in deepening the cooperation that has existed for years between Hungary and Albania in the field of education.
In February of this year, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary, we signed a memorandum of understanding on the Hungarian scholarship program for Albanian students. Since 2016, 20 Albanian students come to Hungary for bachelor, master, etc. programs. The meeting was fruitful and the rectors are invited and will soon come to Albania so that all these that we talked about today in principle, to be concretized as soon as possible ", said Kushi.
