Painter Gazmend Leka opens the exhibition "Noe" in the gallery of the Faculty of Visual Arts. In 24 paintings, the artist narrates the broken alliance between people and nature, a reality as universal, but also Albanian, where in the dark and watery images, there are figures that pulsate wandering on the surface, which according to the curator of the exhibition Ermir Hoxha, they suddenly evoke empty streets, suffocating masks, and the absurdity of a fearful reality. The exhibition "Noe" is a trilogy that precedes the two previous exhibitions of Leka, "Prayer", which the painter dedicated to the "great silence" and "The room of lost steps", which focused on the purification of the soul.
"'Noe” is a twinning between an Albanian reality, especially of the last 30 years, the flood, but also with a reminder from the Old Testament. Knowing that people are well acquainted with the character of Noah from the Old Testament, I chose to give this title to the exhibition. I started it with the flood and continued with the salvation, to make it a kind of catharsis of being ", says the painter Gazmend Leka.
