Prime Minister Edi Rama, in his speech at the joint conference with German Minister for Europe Michael Roth, stated that people in the Balkans should not be divided into categories for free movement in Europe, based on the vaccine they have been given.
"Citizens can not travel to Europe, due to their division into two categories, the category of those who have received the western vaccine and those who have received the eastern one. I wish you and other friends to help us convey this message, not to divide people into categories when it comes to the basic right to free movement," Rama said.
German Minister Michael Roth stressed out that it is important to pay attention to young people. "I wish most of them return to their homeland. This is because there are concrete chances for a developed Albania. Some obstacles must be overcome, but the youth must have confidence in us and our support". As for the membership negotiations Minister Roth said that in politics it is decided at the end, not according to feelings, but according to facts. The facts are crucial. Albania and North Macedonia have met the conditions for launching membership negotiations.
"We will try every day to talk to our colleagues, we have negotiated with North Macedonia and Bulgaria and they are continuing intensively under the Portuguese presidency. I wish the negotiations open on 22 June," Roth said.
