The chairman of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, says that he is considering the February 14 elections as a referendum for NATO membership, which according to him should take place by 2024. On the contrary, the presidential candidate said that the solution the only union remains with Albania.
"February 14 is in a way a referendum on NATO. Kosovo's joining NATO belongs to the people of Kosovo, the region, but also NATO and our security allies. "Who is against is known to be Russia, Serbia and their allies," he said.
The leader of AAK said that the warnings for unification with Albania do not surprise even Kosovo's allies.
"We are wasting time waiting without borders to become a member of NATO as Kosovo, or as an independent state as we started. In this case, Kosovo has only one way, there is no other way, it is the unification with Albania, which is something natural, which is coming. Even the allies of Kosovo understand that Kosovo gave them time, gave them 25 years, that we said that until 2024 we are not at the door of NATO, then we have no choice but to agree to enter united. I believe that our allies also appreciate the time we have given to the option to join NATO as an independent Kosovo. Therefore, I am convinced that they would give us permission and support for unification with Albania. "So this is a real option that can happen," he said.
