The Center for Openness and Dialogue (COD) has organized an exhibition on the occasion of the 88th anniversary of the Albanian painter Sali Shijaku where 112 works in drawings, paintings and sculptures are exhibited that summarize creations spanning 50 years.
The exhibition "Sali Shijaku - 88 Light, Shade and Colors" is the first solo exhibition of the painter, while it is mainly focused on his works on paper. The works of art divided into several artistic categories are presented under the "Cycle of Nudes", where for the first time are exhibited 12 works in drawing realized in the period 2000-2010, the "Cycle of Abstracts", which include 16 drawings and abstract paintings of the author, and the "Cycle of Legends", where Homeric figures are often treated by the author throughout his artistic life.
Another special element is the exhibition of sketches, the sketch of the monument of 'Freedom', with an important detail because the painter reworked the sketch of the monumental statue a few days before the exhibition, creating a work cycle from 1976 to in 2021.
The exhibition also includes self-portraits of the painter, the last made in 2010.
