The Speaker of Parliament, Lindita Nikolla, received the Minister of the United Kingdom for Europe and America, MP Wendy Morton, who is in Tirana on an official visit. Speaker Nikolla praised the bilateral cooperation in recent years, concretized in several high-level visits, and noted the close cooperation in the field of justice, especially the assistance of the British government to strengthen justice institutions, the fight against organized crime, trafficking of human beings, illegal immigration and the advancement of economic reforms.
"Successful justice reform is continuing to progress. Currently, the need has arisen to extend the mandate of the Vetting bodies and we are confident that we will have the support of the opposition on this issue. We will also cooperate with the opposition to advance and deepen electoral reform and other reforms. "I am determined to build a new climate of cooperation with the opposition," Nikolla underlined. Minister Wendy Morton congratulated Nikolla on her election as Speaker of the Assembly and thanked her for Albania's appreciation and willingness to expand bilateral cooperation with the United Kingdom. Cooperation and support will continue, especially for the consolidation of democratic institutions, strengthening the rule of law, the fight against corruption, trafficking, organized crime, etc.
