The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi received today in a meeting the EU Ambassador for Dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, who is paying a visit in the framework of his mission. After the meeting, Thaçi asked the EU to discuss and put on the table the possibility of mutual recognition of Kosovo-Serbia.
Thaçi also reiterated and even called on the EU to move regarding visa liberalization with Kosovo.
"A few moments ago, I ended a meeting with the EU envoy, Miroslav Lajcak. I can conclude that our conversation and the meeting in general was a correct, constructive meeting in dealing with finding opportunities to reach a final agreement that would imply mutual recognition. I still believe that Kosovo's only future is to be part of NATO and the EU, and in this regard the EU needs to move on with the visa issue because it is too late. This is an unfair punishment for the citizens of the country. I believe that the time has come for the EU to put on the table the possibility of discussing mutual recognition, then the other issues become easier and not to continue with technical issues that we have discussed for 10 years now. I see a better coordination of the EU and this is a good message for us to be as united as possible ", said President Thaçi.
