The European Parliament voted in favor of visa liberalization for Kosovo.
The news is announced by the Rapporteur for Kosovo in this institution, Viola Von Cramon, who writes that visa liberalization for Kosovo has been supported by 472 MEPs.
"In the plenary vote on the report on Kosovo in the European Parliament, the vast majority supports visa liberalization for the citizens of Kosovo and urges the EU Council to act, "472 for, 165 against and 41 abstentions", writes Von Cramon.
MEP Von Cramon, in the debate on the progress report on Kosovo in the European Parliament has once again demanded that the EU Council act and liberalize the visas it has promised for Kosovo.
"The report also encourages Kosovo to make more efforts on various domestic and local issues, among them topics such as climate change, education policy, gender-based violence, to name a few. The government of Kosovo must pass the reforms and implement them continuously," she said.
EU Enlargement Commissioner Olivier Varhelyi stated that the European Commission agrees that it is time to liberalize visas for Kosovo, but that the decision should be taken by EU member states, therefore this institution encourages the Kosovo authorities to address members and work on resolving -this issue.
